Who is Peter
Peter was born in 1948 in Maastricht, married and lives and works in Tilburg. He studied social work at the Social Academy in Den Bosch. He then worked as a guardian-social worker, staff officer responsible for research into various personnel issues on the shop floor and as social counsel.
In october 2008 he started sculpting as an autodidact. At the end of 2009 in early 2010 he attended workshops with sculptor Peter van Goethem to sharpen his techniques.
His sculptures almost always had the theme LIFE. A theme that was related to his career and his private life. His sculptures are smooth but also rough, with round shapes and sharp lines, open holes and connections. They are like life. Always originated from pure handwork. The combination of stone and wood also symbolizes life, 'Stone stands for hard and cold, Wood stands for soft and warm. In his latest sculptures, these elements are becoming more and more apparent. But he also does not shy away from new challenges with regard to material choices and design such as lead, glass and LED light.
His sculptures have a 'self-sensible' character. It is his way to distinguish himself from other sculptors. With his sculptures he always looks for the 'limits'. Both in the stone and in itself. He never uses the traditionally shaped pedestals, but he himself creates a 'pedestal' for his sculptures. He uses various varieties of wood and often combines it with lead. This creates a synergy between stone, wood and lead so that his sculptures are found to be very unique.
But also in his paintings he works in a completely individual manner. He combines various techniques in his work and uses various materials. In this he is still in an experimental period. He shows a number of examples in the Gallery Paintings. Most of these paintings are therefore not for sale. But he places them to show the development of what he is already making and which direction he wants to continue.
He regularly exhibits at home and abroad. His sculptures and paintings are owned by collectors, companies and private individuals at home and abroad.
