My inspiration
How did a sculpture come about for me? And how does a painting of me come about?
After I bought a stone, I regularly looked and touched it from all sides. I then placed it in my studio at the time for a while and I was inspired there by the feelings I got when I looked at the stone. I often got my inspiration from my own way of life or what was inspired by my spirituality (Buddhism and Meditation). That is why I preferred to work from the waist direct method. During the work the sculpture changed shape regularly. Because in the end the stone "determines" what it wants to become. I helped him to achieve that shape. A shape that often symbolizes "Life". The stone determines whether what I see in my head can also be extracted from that stone.
But just like what I had in sculpting, that the shape changed shape during the process, I also experience this in painting. With every layer I see changes that I then continue to build on. Until it finally looks the way I intended it to look in my head.
With my paintings I fully start from my feelings at that moment. I express my feelings in my use of color. These are often soft tones because I want to break free from the harshness of the society in which we live. So work from my heart and soul.
My paintings, like my sculptures, are always abstract in form. This gives me the most satisfaction in my work.
My sculptures had to be manageable for me and certainly also affordable for the enthusiast of my work.
As with my sculptures, my paintings have to be manageable and that is why I have a maximum size of 100 X 100 cm.
